« on: November 10, 2017, 05:15:08 AM »
I am using free avast antivirus software, i am trying to run a full scan but it is stuck at 0%, why is this, how can i fix it?
Also i ran a boot time scan yesterday, where can i find the results?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

First, you don't say what your version number is, have you got the latest avast version, 17.8.2318 ?

Whilst there is something related to scans I don't know if it directly addresses what you experienced, but during the last beta session it may have been addressed.  It is certainly worth checking, but one thing for sure any fix wouldn't be pushed retrospectively to old versions.  Unless there was some sort of emergency update relating to it, but I can't see that as I don't know if that would fall under an emergency category.

There's a known bug with the full scan staying stuck at 0% for a while (rootkit scan taking place).. eventually, say in some extreme cases, it takes more than a hour and a half to make it 1%. Once it has reached 1%, the scan usually completes quickly and the percentage moves quicker.

You also need to take into account that if it's your first full scan (that includes a first full scan after a clean install) that Avast! is populating the cache thus further scans will run quicker.
