Avast Crashing

My avast Virus scanner Crashes after a few short seconds of activation with no error mesages of any kind. All the Shields work fine and the avast program will run fine as long as i dot try to scan.

How exactly does it crash? Any error message?

No error messages appear just closes the program.

If you try to run ashsimp2.exe from avast folder, will it work?

to help us ask you the right questions ... can you please tell us:

What operating system are you using (Windows 98/ME or Windows NT/2000/XP etc)?

What release of avast are you using?
