Upgrade offer
« on: November 21, 2017, 05:42:24 PM »
Please, is it really necessary to offer me the upgrade program every time I run my PC? Three clicks are required to cancel. If this situation persists, I will be forced to find another program.

I think I might be having the same issue. When I turn on my PC (a few seconds after Windows loads) a message from Avast appears asking if I am using the free or paid version, then after clicking that I am using the free one it asks if I want to update. I always refuse.

... The problem is that this has been repeating everyday (three days now!  :'(). I repaired Avast and that didn't fix anything.

@MartinZ,
I clicked that I use the free one, then it asked me if I wanted to try the paid one for 30 days... I clicked on "No, thanks'.
I will admit that after using the repair function two more times this problem seems to have gone away, but now scans seem to be showing informations that conflict with each other.

On the screenshot, the "performance issues" that could be fixed after a smart scan are wrong! A few days ago it was working, after the repair it starting showing 0 things to fix, but still detecting performance issues.

P.S. The Cleanup Premium (that I haven't bought, but is still there to just make scans...) gets stuck in the scanning process. I have to click in another option (ex: privacy or protection) and return to performance - cleanup premium to show the results.

I clicked on free and after restarting the PC, in the same day, nothing appeared.

The next day it did appear though! After repairing (for now) this problem seems to have gone away.

Thanks, for teeling me that the performance issues arent a problem for just me ;)

Hi,

that's really weird. Could you please click on the Free version, then the nag should disappear. Then please send me this folder: C:\Users\{yourprofile}\AppData\Roaming\AVAST Software\Avast\Cache

We store the information what you selected and the nag shouldn't appear again once you selected any option.

Thanks

@MartinZ,

Hi,

After one repair too many, I haven't seen this message again (maybe it was because of the Black Friday deals or that my 180 days of free Avast were ending?).

Anyway, how do I send this folder to you? If I click to send a PM to you there is not an option for this.

Anyway, how do I send this folder to you? If I click to send a PM to you there is not an option for this.

You can't send them by PM as PMs don't have an option to attach a file/s. Even ordinary forum posts wouldn't allow for you to attach them as the files that can be attached don't include .zip (file format).

The cache folder in the path you were given is going to be relatively large, so it needs to be compressed (zipped up) before it is sent to MartinZ.

Once you have that done that can you see an email icon next to the PM one you tried ?
If so you should be able to send an email to MartinZ, attaching that .zip or other compression format .7z (7-zip program) to the email you send him.

@DavidR,
Hmmm... I don't seem to have the option to email either you or MartinZ.
