Help needed re a virus
« on: May 17, 2006, 05:42:27 PM »
I installed avast a few months ago & everything has been fine. However I now have a virus. It was discovered by avast when i switched my pc on. the message is as follows.

C/ Windows system32task.dLL.Win32.Lager trojan horse

I followed the instruction & moved the virus to the chest. However, everytime I re-boot the PC the same message comes up & I can't seem to delete the virus. I am concerned that it could spread. The pc works fine, but each time I switch the pc off & re-start, the virus message comes back. What can I do?

If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you should:
1) disable System Restore
2) Clean your temporary files
3) schedule a boot time scanning with avast
4) use a-squared or ewido (trojan removers).

Feel free to ask for further help and welcome to forums  :)

You can get Ewido Anti-Malware from here: http://www.ewido.net/en/
and a-squared from here: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ ;)

 :)  Hi marshy :

If your Operating System is either Win XP or Win 2000,
you should use "Ewido"; there is a "tutorial" at :
