Dear Avast service
I would like to inform you about the version of Avast Free Antivirus 17.8.2318 I've observed that trying to load additional definitions for scanning at boot time, the update application continues push forward without stopping, i have to quit the service without any indication.
I hope I have been useful with this message, I wish you a good job

Merry Christmas greetings and wishes

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

I already tried this method, even to reinstall again Avast, but the problem remained, however, it seems that forcing the closure of the application has concluded positively,
Thank you  :)
