Does Avast have a log of malware attempts detected?
« on: December 03, 2017, 05:46:08 AM »
I entered information into a website and got a message from Avast saying the website was infected with phishing malware.  I made a screenshot of the message, but unfortunately the message wasn't captured by the screenshot and I got only the screen behind it.  All I can remember was that it said something about phishing-uk.  Is there a log or some other way I can track down what the message said?

P.S. Your capchas are far too difficult to read - I've tried 5 times and keep getting a message that I've misread them!

1. You find the info in the notification center.
2. Captcha is only needed for your first 3 posts. (Spam protection)

You can also check the Web Shield log C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\WebShield.txt if you happen to have cleared the notification area.

This is one area Avast needs to work on.

There's currently no way to see the logs via the UI. They should be able to incorporate the log information into the UI with the relevant info. Then there's also the stats which always keep getting pushed...

Windows 10 Home 64-bit • Avast Free (latest stable version) •  Malwarebytes 4 Premium (On-Demand) • Windows Firewall Control • Google Chrome • LastPass • CCleaner • O&O ShutUp10 •

That's the problem with the change to using the Notifications Area, once the information is removed/cleared there is no easy way to look back at the detections, etc.

God don't get us started on Stats - they have been dead/non-existent for so long it is hard to say when - first they were removed to be improved.  Yet still no improvement, this is the kind of short sightedness remove a function, before you have its improved replacement.  Anything is possibly better than nothing at all.

This isn't the only feature/function that has gone absent.  Unfortunately the same can't be said with some of the junk that has been placed in an AV.  Avast are pushing to monetize the free version, but placing paid features in the UI in the hope they will persuade people to buy. Even running scans by these features/functions and reporting issues that can be resolved without paying (CleanUp, Sensitive Data Shield, Ransomware Shield, etc).

Oddly, I am getting the same message today. This is from a site I've been using for a very long time. The URL looks good. My question is... is it being detected by Avast because of something changed on my PC, or is it because of a new entry in Avast's database?
(I'm hoping the image is visible)
