Avast is down
« on: December 03, 2017, 07:59:10 PM »
Hi all.

Just bought a new computer and I installed Avast Internet Security with my license from the site here. Now I keep getting "Avast is down" messages every minute. I've gone into the Programs/repair area to fix it, but it's not doing anything, I still get the error. Any ideas on how to fix this or should I just attempt a re-install? Thanks !

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

I also got a new computer yesterday. I installed avast , and have the same problems with the IU, plus it also says avast is down and says I'm in danger. I have been trying to fix all day. I have tried the clean and reinstall . tried it with airplane mode on , I even tried a fresh install of windows with all the updates and then installed avast no other installs. same problems. My event logs say avast services terminated unexpectedly over and over. I also have a red x in the icon all the time unless i restart avast. it comes back on but stops after a few minuets. I'm using windows 10 Pro version 1709 build 16299.98.
I'm not having this issue with my other windows 10 machines.

Exactly the same issue here after a clean reinstall of Windows 10.  What's going on guys - these can't be coincidences

No Dell  here. But I'm leaning more toward a windows glitch of new installs that they have not patched yet.
