ABAPP: exclusions
« on: December 04, 2017, 05:12:11 PM »
The user manual of ABAPP is, well, pretty brief. The word Exclude appears twice, without explaining all ins and outs. The Template settings are divided in several groups for clients, servers etc. Those groups all have a section Active protection, General settings, Antivirus settings and Troubleshooting. Tab Antivirus settings has a tab File paths to exclude .. well ... what? Files? Paths? File Types? Not clear to me. I take it I can enter files and extensions using wildcards, but I'm not sure.
When I switch to tab Active protection and click Customize right after File Shield and then click tab Exclusions, I can also enter paths, files, extensions with wildcards and also specify for which action to exclude them. Now I wonder how these paths, files, extensions etc. relate to the ones on tab Antivirus settings. Are those exclusion lists combined? Or does one take precedence over the other?

You can configure your exclusions in two ways:
  • For a specific component/shield: in the properties of the component.
  • For all components and scanning tasks: in the General > Antivirus settings.
