CHKDSK deleted two Avast .vpx files....now what?
« on: December 11, 2017, 02:41:33 AM »
Hello everyone;

I did a manual power reset and upon restarting CHKDSK ran.  During the scan, CHKDSK noted that it deleted "vps-bootwin32-39e.vpx" and "vps-bootwin1.vpx".

I've never had CHKDSK delete anything so I wrote the two, deleted, file names down.

I then logged into my PC and tried to update Avast Services and Programs  I received "UNKNOWN ERROR" for each, as noted below:

SERVICES
------------
Download y9663457 AVAST9 Server
http://y9663457.vpsnitro.u.avast.com/vpsnitro

PROGRAMS
--------------
Download s4705686 AVAST9 Server
http://s4705686.iavs9x.u.avast.com/iavs9x
http://s4705686.vpsnitro.u.avast.com/vpsnitro

How do I get the deleted .vpx files back to where they belong, or how do I get new .vpx files so I can update my free AVAST?

I should tell you I'm a total ignoramous when it comes to pc's.  The simpler the explanation of what I have to do, the better.

Thanks all....
