How to retrieve the black connection icon from avast secureline. It disappeared.

I have avast secureline and I used to see a square black icon showing the connection. Now, I don't see it and I have no way of knowing if I am connected unless I click on the internet icon. Does anyone know how to get this back?

What version of avast do you have?  Free, Internet Security, Premier?  Or is this VPN a standalone install?

See attached below for AIS install, which should be similar for Free or Premier.
