It's like with SuSE, the reason to implement anti-virus on SuSE (or Solaris, etc) is not that the system itself is vulnerable for viruses but systems like SuSE and Solaris are often used as servers.
In many situations these systems are used as mailserver so the clients running MS Windows need to be protected against the forwarding of virus-containing messages.
