Avast is down - or, is it up?
« on: December 21, 2017, 12:21:34 PM »
Today my pc started to behave strangely and as usual I suspected Avast (who has been the source of those problems all the time, actually).

I looked at the Avast icon in the status bar. It says "You are protected".

However when I open Avast user interface it says "Avast is down".

It tells me to restart. I have done that two times now, but it does not help.

This is on Windows 10 with everything up to date. (Even Avast is up to date. According to what it says when I try to update.)

Thanks Be Secure,

No I did not even think about Repair. (It has always been a faulty version of Avast before.)

It fixed the problem for now. I wonder what happened. At the moment I have not seen any other (acute) problems on this pc. Could it be the Avast updater?

Hi Beogl,
Is it possible Windows 10 has updated recently? Sometimes after an update the network stack and sometimes some 3rd party services have problems until after a full reboot.
