I now have two versions of AvastUI.exe running at all times and a third one if I open the application, it used to only be one all the time and two if I opened the application is something causing this second one?
Same here. I don't like this version. It is buggy.

- Fixed a problem with white UI (you might see more processes AvastUI.exe now, but that's OK)

Well, this is not OK!:

Why is this thing suddenly popping up in the middle of my screen, without me having clicked on anything?

I also have this

I don't like this new version.  Wish I hadn't up dated. Takes quick scan a long time to scan.

So, on the subject of Quick Scan being gone... I'm still on 17.8.2318, but somehow my GUI has updated already--I have a "Core Shields" section and no longer have access to Quick Scans.

However, I had a regularly scheduled Quick Scan, and that still runs (I saw it do so yesterday). I'm not able to remove it from the schedule, obviously, because there's no more Quick Scans schedule to access. It doesn't appear in the new "Custom Scans" section. How do I fix this? Am I going to have to completely uninstall and reinstall Avast to get rid of it? I'm really not happy about this.

Same. It's since November that I have the new GUI for protection and scanning.

Seems that if you allow internet access for AvastUI.exe, the popup doesn't appear.

Now the questions are..
- Why should I grant internet access to this process, which has never needed it before?
- What is Avast actually trying to display in this blank window?
- How was this mysterious white UI bug solved by adding multiple processes of AvastUI.exe, which now has resulted in more memory usage?

This is a very annoying regression, and it needs to be addressed ASAP!

1. The UI has its own update channel now so you are disabling UI updates. On top of that, the internet is used (CEF) to display some features and content of the UI.
2. It's either trying to display the UI content or an ad, hard to tell without you giving more info.
3. The Avast UI now uses some aspects of Chronium if I remember correctly and multiple processes of Avast UI is normal. They processes will stop themselves.
It may be some empty/hidden window. Those processes are being closed after some time, when no response from IPM or there occurs error.

Why are you blocking anti-virus processes? Feel free to create a thread on this because this will get lost in this topic.

Just updated here via the GUI. It looks like it's working normally, except one thing.
It's just here that the Avast icon in the task bar doesn't move anymore when it's scanning something? It's still checked in settings to animate, but it looks like it doesn't work anymore.

Same here.

Dame here.

The tray icon not animating is a known bug of this stable release.

I have been visiting the forums without logging in and remaining silent but.....

1) Removing the quick scan from the scan options is bad idea. I'm sure many users made use of the quick scan.
I am not one of them. I use the full system scan once a month. Resident shields lessen the need for frequent scans.
2) The GUI as it is now is a headache when it comes to easy navigation. Too many hoops to jump through to get where you want to go.
3) I'm back to getting a bloody splash screen. And I cannot find the setting to shut the blasted splash screen off.
4) The so called smart scan is a farce. Maybe using the old quick scan would make it worthwhile.
5) No back button in the UI for the user to go back one screen. Some users need a "no think" options.
6) Bring back the v7.xxx GUI. That was the best one I've seen and used.
7) Remove targeted scan and replace it with the quick scan. Targeted scan is the same thing as a right click context scan.

The UI has its own update channel now so you are disabling UI updates.

That suits me just fine, I'll manage perfectly fine without any such updates.

--

the internet is used (CEF) to display some features and content of the UI

The UI has always displayed just fine without me allowing internet access to AvastUI.exe, and it still does.

--

It's either trying to display the UI content or an ad, hard to tell without you giving more info.

The screenshot is not of Avast's UI, but a popup that appears out of nowhere, while Avast resides in the system tray.
Previous versions has never behaved like this!

--

Why are you blocking anti-virus processes?

Internet access for AvastUI.exe has never been a requirement in order for Avast to function properly!
The only time this is necessary, is if you want to use it to create a new subscription.
