They are not numbered, but you can expect a major update sometime in beginning of 2018 as usual. No info on what will be new tho...

What a bold move to release such a buggy version up to the holidays. I guess the Avast leadership is either oki with a buggy product for weeks or forcing their developers at work in the holiday.

Smart scan is running. Clicks on Show progress, gets this:

Can't stop it, but I'm guessing it's done because there is what looks like a completed scan in scan history. Any others scans are not show, gui is stuck at a Smart Scan.

Clicks on Performance -> Cleanup Premium, get this:

Mkay...

Opens up Windows Defender Security Center and it warns me that the protection service is not running. I'm guessing Avast has killed it, when it updated. Starts the service, but doesn't get any status from Avast, even though release notes mentions it.
Didn't catch a screenshot of if though.

Avast incorrectly flags a file as malware, moved to chest. Tries to send the file for analysis, get this:

Woav... just woav. My license runs out in two months, you can guess what I'm not going to do.

If that is your intention, ensure that you don't have automatic renewal enabled.

@Erroneus

Have you ran a repair and have you blocked AvastUI from accessing the internet?

Could someone with the UI issues create a thread so it's easier to track?

Hi... could someone help... I can't send emails from my gmail account, it was suggested I temporarily disable avast to see if it fixed the problem. I don't want to do that or even know how to anyway... is there a known issue with new updates affecting gmail? and if so what can I do. Thank you... Lou-ann

Cleanup premium still gives a blank screen after reboot.
Sending a file to analysis still fails.
At least the GUI is not stuck on smart-scan.

And don't worry, I would never (anymore) let a advertising company like Avast have my creditcard of file.

Sorry but with the new version breaking outlook,  I've uninstalled Avast and started using Bitdefender.  IF  avast fix the bug then maybe I'll come back.  And to be clear, I run 2 networks with over 50 other users, so its not just me walking away.
Avast, please fix this quickly, to retain customers.

Bugs in your email protection are kind of a big deal to not be responding to!

Did the update using the full offline installer and so far all seems well. UI opens much faster than last version. Also Avast seems to have added a "Scan with Avast" option to the Recycle Bin (both on XP and Windows 10)
