Ive noticed since updating to 2322 that the Avast Settings Backup program is crashing during Windows Startup. Other than this and the amoeba no longer animating, all's good. And yes, did run an Avast repair.

backup.exe and asscociated task was removed long time ago. It is only leftover. You can remove it by hand (you need also delete task in task manager) or use Avastclear and do clean install.

Funny then that it only now decided to start showing up. Will do.

Edit - Deleted the Avast Settings Backup task from Task Sceduler and deleted the Backup.exe file from the aforementioned directory. Heres to it bugging off now =D

No longer seeing it crash on startup, cause it doesnt exist AHAHAHAHA

Someone knows what happens with the animation of Avast free 17.9.2322, Today update and everything works fine except the animation of the avast logo in the system bar.

The pc is a professional Windows 64 64bit. Everything works less the animation.

And one question, in the intelligent analysis that analyzes the network's virus and performance, you can remove it from performance. I see that it leads to buy the cleanup but as I do not want that it would only be virus and network nothing else.

Greetings.

I got updated to this Avast free version sometime today even though ask before was selected. I had been several versions behind. Also did Windows updates. I run Win 7x64 ultimate on an old PC with a core2 duo processor and 8gb ram.
I usually do a right click file or folder scan multiple times daily. I noticed it has stopped working this evening. I get a system busy for a few seconds, then nothing, no popup scan window. I can open the GUI and view the report and it looks like it has scanned. I dont have the time or patience to be checking this all the time.

I ran a repair and it did not help.  Anyone else have this problem?  Solution?

This is a huge issue for me! If I cannot find a solution soon, I will have to look at another antivirus program.

Thanks

I don't have that problem on my system. Just wondering why you use that function so often ???
Avast would automatically scan any file you access and if it finds anything, would take the appropriate action.
You could try a Clean Install of Avast:

I use that scan often to check downloaded compressed files. Avast does not see problems when downloaded. Running a manual scan will catch anything before unpacking them.

I want to do a clean install. Being as my system is older, what shields or components can I omit while still being protected?

As far as I'm aware the default setting on the Web Shield is to scan all packers.

Mine is set to default and it does not see some problems. I am used to doing it this way, I just need to get the right click scan working properly.

Don't forget when you unpack a zip the File System Shield as the on-access scanner should also scan the contents.

As you can see I also have a Core32Duo CPU and I have never omitted a Shield in relation to performance, I omit Shields that I don't need/want.
I have a minimal installation with the File/Mail/Web/Behaviour Shields also the Wi-Fi Inspector and Software Updater

EDIT: Typo
