I want to do a clean install. Being as my system is older (core2 duo), what shields or components can I omit to improve performance, while still being protected?

If you only use webmail, you can omit the Mail Shield.  But with 8GB of RAM (stated above), I don't think you will have any trouble even with the fullest of installations.

Even if you only use web mail. the mail shield still gives you some phishing protection.

Howdy, y'all .... my problem and system seem more basic than other posts in this topic. I did "restore defaults" to get rid of my old custom scans, used the full etc. scans that are on the UI, and, no matter what I do, the Windows 10 (1709 x64) system DOES NOT SHUT DOWN after scan. My scans run at 3am, and should shut down my machines afterward. Avast version 17.9.2322 build 17.9.3761.278.

Thanks for your help!

Second AvastUI.exe is no longer executed and autominimalizing is gone. Thanks for fix.
It is back, second AvastUI.exe is executed again like before but this happens now very early from Windows start. This is not solution, it still silenty popup to front which cause minimalize everything.

When is this second AvastUI.exe executed, it eats 125MB of my RAM, then drop it to 82MB. So 82 MB of my RAM is only used for fix white UI bug? I never seen white UI anyway.

Don't forget some users has old computers and this can be big problem.

I'm having the same problem, which did not occur until the latest update.  As far as I can tell, I do not have any processes running that would keep Avast from shutting the computer down.  This is on three different PCs, one with Win10 Pro v.1709, one with Win10 Pro v.1703, and one with Win10 Home v.1709.

It's a known bug.

Is there a link to a list of known bugs that I can look at?  I haven't been able to find one.

Asyn, thank you for the information.  When is Avast planning to have the bug fixed?  Is there some other forum in which I should be asking these questions?

In fact, there is such a list, but it is only available for the Avast staff.
