Apple home sharing problems

Some time ago the kids complained the Apple TV didn't work.  I have just got around to looking at it.  What they meant was that the Apple Homesharing has stopped working over the network.  I did all the Apple suggestions and finally switched of the Avast firewall and as if by magic it all starts working again.  Apple advise TCP ports 3689 and UDP 5432 are not blocked so I have opened these up specifically in the packet rules to no avail.

Anybody have any ideas?

Is your firewall network profile in puplic or private mode?

It was set to PUBLIC so I changed it ti PRIVATE and it all works!!!!  You sir are a genius.  Thanks a lot
