Avast 19.4.2374 unable to restart Avast Service
« on: May 02, 2019, 01:17:18 AM »
With many days of using Windows 10 Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.285), Avast Service is consuming a lot of Windows Handles. I may see this with Process Explorer. Now after 37 days of use, Avast Service is consuming 5,752 handles.
Usually solved this going to Local Services and restart Avast Service, but now, the service shows no controls at all on Local Services panel. Just appears as "running", no option to stop, restart, etc.

How do I restar Avast Service? I already tried disabling Self Defense module and disable permently all shields, no luck.

Do Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.
