CAvastTrayIcon window
« on: December 24, 2017, 01:12:48 PM »
I've started getting a 'CAvastTrayIcon' window in the main part of my taskbar, just since latest update of Avast (21st Dec 2017 08:18:14)

It doesn't do anything, and I can't close it.

Running
Win7 Home Premium (SP1)
Avast Pro 17.9.2322 (build 17.9.3761.0)

Tried uninstall and reinstall (x2) - taskbar window disappears until the first reboot...

About ready to ditch Avast and swap to another "intel" based anti-virus provider...

If it is, you need to uncheck it and select OK at the bottom.

The tray icon setting change doesn't fix this but I did fix it by

Start - Control Panel - Programs and Features - Avast Free Antivirus - Change - Repair - reboot.

I have this issue too since the last update.  Tried to re-install and reboot.  Tried to do a repai and reboot.  Neither of these works.  Please help.  I have the Tray icon on the right as I am supposed to but also down below on left that I cannot close.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

Hello, Dear Santa.
I've been a real good boy and made all that clean reinstall step by step exactly. I've also imported the settings at the end, as I definetely don't want to go through all the settings again manually.
And I'm getting this window icon again.
Please, Santa, don't give them no presents - to ppl who can't even hide a window properly! Oh, for ducks sake, why did I have to go through all the reinstalls in the first place?! It's a simple and obvious issue, make a fix for that!

I did, re-installed, installed, erased the registry data and re-installed it and it remains the same. And I rebooted after every operation.

Hello guys,
sorry for this annoying bug in our product. It has been noted and I will start working on it ASAP. Hopefully, we should have this issue fixed in next release.

Please, be patient with us as we are making some bold changes in Antivirus UI and sometimes bugs might slip our QA process. If you notice anything report it here on forums or join Beta program so you can help us make the application as bug free as possible.

It did go away a day or two ago) I assume it was smth of your doing as I didn't touch it anymore - so thank you very much.
I also want to apologize for the way I posted this in the first place, I didn't know about your works on UI and I'm sorry for what I said. Perhaps, a simple notification for users before testings on UI would prevent any complains.
Thanks for your work! Avast is great!

Hello again,
the issue should be fixed in next release of Avast, which is planned to be in early February, or if you are Beta users, in a week or so.

Since the bug is quite random and we couldn't really test it with certainty, I am asking for your help. When you get the new Avast version, please, let us know if you encounter the problem again.

Thank you

Looks like ya QA needs to be a little more through and wait a week or so before allowing any new updates to the main program to see if anything like this happens, because just doing a quick Quality Assurance and then releasing it causes this kinda mess, and gets you Dev's working on a issue that coulda been delt with if they did not say ya it is fine then this happens!
I have had this issue since the last update and tbh it is getting annoying an almost making me want to uninstall and go to AVG, but this AV seemingly catches stuff during a d/l which AVG does not!
