Simple question from a newbie (free Avast)

I'm a mac user trying to install/use Avast on a PC (arghh). On my mac it shows at the top of the screen as always running.  Is it always running on the PC? Should it be showing at the bottom of the screen along with other active applications?

I believe it is a Mac user seeking help on a PC (Windows presumably) installation of avast.

In windows installations of avast there is a Tray Icon at the bottom right of the screen.  That can indicate that avast is running. Right clicking on it shows some shortcuts to the User Interface - Left clicking on it opens the AvastUI directly.

At times this avast tray icon can indicate if there is something wrong.
