Avast said that I have 25 GB of junkies... [SOLVED]
« on: January 11, 2018, 07:15:52 PM »
Hallò: I am new here but not for Avast.
The problem is simple: after a check Avast! said that I have 25 gb of junkies slowing down my pc. In those it added also the Avast free antivirus... and this is not good 'cause how can it be trushed?
I have to think this can be a bug 'cause it is impossible that Avast see itself as "trush"...
Someone can explain it to me, please?

Thanks in advance

I would show it, but it happens only with those automatic panels that Avast send to the user... I really don't know how to do. Also when I do some check, it dowsn't show that alert... anyway is the 2nd time it shows me this. The only thing I can do is waiting the next time and take a screenshot...

It would appear that this limited version of 'Avast Cleanup' is installed on your free version of avast, like any other avast component it can be uninstalled.

AvastUI > Settings > Components > Performance > Cleanup - expand the option and select the 'Uninstall Component' option.

If you have this installed and you run a smart scan, that will be part of the smart scan.  It can also be used to report your system status (as an Ad popup) in the hope that you would purchase the full paid version of Cleanup.  This sounds more like what you have encountered.

Following your seggestion I did a quick scan and the result this time has not shown Avast! as "potentially unwanted". Anyway I have again that list of about 25 gb that I should (for avast) delete... Downloaded files (I need them) and Backup files (needed too)

Do I have chance to list them as needed, in avast?

I don't know what you mean by a Quick Scan as the previous avast Quick scan has been removed ?
You are left with the Smart Scan, Full Scan, Folder Scan and any Custom Scan you create.  I didn't include the boot-time scan as it is outside of normal scans running under windows .

You would have to look in the windows Downloaded Program Files folder to see what is there and if you want to proceed with the removal.  I have nothing in that windows Downloaded Program Files folder, mainly as I have specified a download folder location.

Avast gives very little detail on what it is going to remove and for that reason I wouldn't use the Cleanup function at all.

There are other free programs that do cleanups and they give much more detail, one such program is CCleaner, this gives much more detail. CCleaner is now within the Avast Software group of programs.  I use CCleaner and it has much greater detail, just right clicking on one entry and select View detailed results and you see everything.

Thanks but I will levae it as it is, so I'll have another image of junkies to be removed. I use also others and more complicate tools for cleaning in deep, and that onew form Avast can contribute to give me more datas.
