Hello :)

As far as I know the P2P Shield scans only the supported programs which are in the list in the provider settings. If that program Frostware is not in the list, this means that the P2P Shield won't monitor this program. That's all. :)

If your P2P isn't supported you would need to have avast scan it, if your P2P has the option to have the downloaded file scanned by your AV enter this path. Assuming that you installed avast! in the default folder, this is the path needed to scan downloads, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe

Depending on the file type and your standard shield sensitivity setting the file may be being scanned anyway but it is safer to have it scanned using the above path.

I can assure you that p2p shield does NOT scan downloads related to frostwire. I have just downloaded a zip archive with this programme and I performed a scan to it via context menu. A worm was inside and avast! of course moved it to chest without any difficulty. p2p shield and web shield failed to find anything. Then I checked the counts on avast! On-Access Scanner and I found out that p2p shield scanned counter was stuck to zero, despite that I was using frostwire for almost an hour.  :(

P.S. Forgive me for opening a "dead" topic. It's only because I have just found out what is going on between avast! and Frostwire and I thought that it was a good idea to inform any Frostwire's user  :) . Forgive my poor English to  :-[ :-[ :-[ .

If you check the P2P Shield, Customize button you will see the list of supported p2p applications and Frostwire isn't on there, that is why the content isn't scanned. If Frostwire has an option to scan downloaded files, this is the path to scan them on completion C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe, this would save you having to do a context menu scan.

Welcome to the forums.
P.S. Your English is fine.

There are many other P2P apps that are either supported by avast! or have the option of having your anti-virus scan the downloads, which is a bad omission as P2P is a prime means of entry for malware.
