I remove Yahoo from my Search Engines in Firefox after every reboot. This is how I know I know that it still happens ever after removing Browser Cleanup tool from Avast.

The idea isn't to remove anything but simply restore your favorite Search Engine as the default.

If you've removed the Browser Cleanup Tool, it isn't Avast that's doing the redirecting.
Maybe you have something else going on with your system ???
Try following the directions outlined at:

Avast was shown to be changing it by us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?type=avastbcl&hspart=avast&hsimp=yhs-001&p=

wigging me out too, but I found a partial solution, easy to follow.. I ggogled it.  Open a google window, drag the little google icon to the home icon, and it will reset your homepage to Google. just click yes. doesn't fix the little browser bar tho, but easy to click the home button at least.

I think I've found the solution (thanks to another forum, not my solution!):

"On my computer it looked like it was a problem made by a lavasoft ad-aware update. I removed 2 files: dsengine.cfg en dsengine.js. from the program files (x86) folder/Mozilla Firefox (root and folder defaults) , put the preferences like homepage back to my preferences and bing was gone en didn't return. Regards, Peter" (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1194334, 5th(-ish) post from the top)

It worked for me, so thanks to Peter! Wanted to share that here, too.

Much love!

Sorry but posting in a three year old thread makes no sense whatsoever.
