Connection Timeout
« on: June 05, 2006, 10:14:18 AM »
Hi,

I installed Avast 4.6 on a SBS2003 server
The netclient on one of the clients keeps reporting a internet connection timeout for Microsoft Activesync.
I tried everything, but I can't figure out how to disable these pop-ups.
Please help me.

I know Avast detects half open connections. I want to report these connection timeouts in a log instead of bugging the users with popups.

Thanks.

I thought that MS ActiveSync doesn't use mail ports. What is the executable and the port number in the timeout message ?

Also, the Internet Mail resident provider should be set to Silent Mode in the netclient by default, isn't it ?

Executable: wcescomm.exe
Port: 110
I googled the executable and it said it is a part of Microsoft Active Sync.

Do I look for these settings on the server or on the client? I searched everywhere, but I can't find any setting that is called Internet mail resident provider  :-\

You can set it in the ADNM console in the Default Resident Task (Internet Mail->Advanced).

The problem with the wcescomm.exe will be fixed by the next VPS update.

Ok, thanks. Do you know when the next update will be?

It was released yesterday (version 0623-2).
