ADNM Reinstall
« on: June 02, 2006, 03:31:50 PM »
The Win2k3 server we had ADNM installed on experienced a hardware failure. How do we migrate the ADNM installation and mirror files to a new server. We are able to access the drive that ADNM is installed on but not the program itself. We are using MSDE.

What needs to be copied?

Also, would it be easier to give the new server the old server's IP address, or will ADNM and our 500 clients need to be updated with new IP information?

Thanks in advance!

OK, that shouldn't be a big problem. I recommend the following:

- get a new machine for the new AMS; if possible, give it the same name/IP as the old one, that will make things a bit easier

- install AMS software on the server (from scratch); let the mirror be created

- use the AMS Maintenance Tool to *restore* the database from your old AMS (i.e. use the last DB backup - I hope there was at least one; by default, there's a DB backup created once a week)

OR, if the hard drive is still functioning, why don't you simply try to boot from it (in another machine)?

Thanks
