Need help updating Virus data base
« on: June 10, 2006, 10:31:08 PM »
I keep getting a red box when I turn on my computer to tell me that my vrdb needs updating.  When I go to try to update I get message that says Error cannot connect to server. If you cancel it says that update not finished & you may be corrupt.  I then will get a screen telling me how long they have tried to connect.

On my Avast screen it tells me that I have the current virus database of 12/28/05.
Resident Protection
Date last scanned --  June 10, 2006
VRDB 2/26/2006
Auto Update - Data only

I know this is way too long to be without protection but I have tried everything to get it to work.  What am I not doing??????????????/  I am not too computer savie so need things told to me in simple terms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're messing vps (virus database) with vrdb (virus recovery database).
Well, problem is on vps update...
Can you manually update without error or not?
Does the problem occurs only after logon or any automatic update?

I have same problem. I can update manually.
Using 4.7 on XP. Reb box pops up on desktop with "Other HTTP error (400), while trying 207.44.182.35:80//iavs4x/"

I have same problem. I can update manually.
Do you mean the update succeed while manually invoked?
When the problem occur? Just after logging?

Yes, update succeeded when manually invoked. The error message appears on desktop when I come into office in morning and screensaver is running.
