Probably a stupid question
« on: June 18, 2006, 03:16:01 AM »
I have avast home 4.7 the latest version and I am confused. I don't know if this is working. Does it only work with Outlook? I have Outlook Express but use AOL email.
AOL does support sending mail to Outlook Express but am wondering if Avast is also working in aol since it supports imap which I think aol is or at least that is what it is to set up in Outlook. i
I hope I am making sense. I don't really want to set up avast in Outlook. It would be easiest to just have it ck aol email. I don't use aol Mcafee as I can't have 2 anti virus.
Please advise the steps of how to set up avvast to work in aol. When the aol screen comes up to get on line it shows that email is covered but am not sure if that is just because aol offers mcafee for that. Also when I hover it shows 6 providers with 5 running. I never set up for Outlook which I think must be the 6th "provider". As you can tell I am new at this so would appreciate definite steps to be sure I have protection in email. Thanks so much,D :)

The OE and multiple other email clients are supported by avast as is Outlook (which uses the Outlook/Exchange plug-in).

AOHell uses a proprietary email client (AOL email) and doesn't use the protocols and ports that can are monitored by the Internet Mail email scanner. As far as I'm aware (not being an AOHeller) it is possible to set-up OE to receive email from AOL but I could be wrong and have no idea how it is done.

This has I believe been discussed in the past so a forums search for aol email, might return more detailed information.

Which providers are running (as there are usually 7 providers with 6 running on first installation) ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security
