Avast Anti Virus Free - is it blocking program files?
« on: February 24, 2018, 01:49:09 PM »
Hi Avast Forum peoples

I have a question, How do I check if Avast Anti Virus Free is blocking parts of a programs files.

I am trying to use an older piece of software but it refuses to launch. It is an RC flight simulator and tech support suggested that my Anti Virus software may be blocking some of it's files.
No warning pop up just a text box telling me that the program has stopped working and needs to close. Super handy windows, thumbs up Microsoft.

I have added both parts of the Flight Sim in the exclusions list, no change.

Any tips on checking file security settings?

I have changed the folder attribute from hidden to visble

Right click avast tray icon > manage shields > pause shields

Any change?

Hi Pondus

Turning off the shields made no difference.

The tech support from the Flight Sim people is rather vague. The forum is of little help also.

I looked in the properties section of the program I am trying to run, under security I enabled full control for all users (inc this pc's name/user), no change.

Looking more like a software compatibility issue than an anti virus interference issue.

Hi bob3160

I have tried that to no avail.
I'm out of ideas. I'm also not a gamer.
