Hello,

I need pro-help in this case. I'm struggling with this issue over one year already and tried many things many times, also with the help of the Comodo-Staff. We had no success so far.

I have a Windows 7 x64 OS and I'm running Avast Free Antivirus together with Comodo Free Firewall v8.4 (firewall only, everything AV releated is disabled). Both were running perfectly together with no problems over more than two years. For reasons I don't want to discuss here, i wanted to uninstall Avast Free Antivirus.

This is the main problem:
When i uninstall Avast Free Antivirus and the uninstallation succeeded, Comodo FW isn't able to startup anymore. The "Comodo Security Agent could not be started"-error on boot prevents the Firewall from being started. The CmdAgent (comodo fw service) can't be started anymore on startup. This Error is FINAL. Once it is there, there has been NO WAY back fixing it. No uninstallation, no reinstallation, no different versions, no avast/comodo cleanup tools, no manual legacy driver removals, NOTHING fixed this error.
The only way is to restore a complete hard-drive backup.

The source of this problem seems to be Avast. Because only if i uninstall Avast Antivirus, this problem occurs.

Please, if anyone here is able to help with other things than the usual stuff, let me know!

And please also have a look at this comodo forum thread, where you can see all the attempts we already tried to fix this issue.

Thank you.

thanks for reporting to the devs (did they actually look into this issue over the last weeks?)

today i discovered something important maybe. When I untick everything under "troubleshooting" in the avast settings (stuff like rootkit detection etc., see screenshot attached) and make a reboot, "Comodo Security Agent could not be started"-error pops up. Even restoring to a previously made system restore point does not fix this error anymore.

When unticking settings in Avast causes other products to stop working, and even more rendering the complete system useless, something is going really wrong! And Devs on both sides - Avast and Comodo - should try hard to find the issue. After all nobody could help me with this issue and i tried hard to fix it myself. I'm almost at the point of giving up such bloated commercial products for less troublesome FOSS.

still no response from the Developers? I'm still waiting for solution!

My Comodo Firewall installation is still getting ruined when I uninstall Avast AV. And for those who didn't read the previous text: the error is not fixable, not even when reinstalling comodo software products, not even when reinstalling avast products. windows is useless after this step and only a restore from a complete hdd backup helps. this is unbearable.

Again reported to Avast. I can't do anything else on my end.

Thank you for reporting again.

But in the meantime I decided to get completely rid of both Avast and Comodo software. The trouble and time i've lost using these products were in no relation to the benifits they should have given me.

The main reason I wanted to remove Avast AV was, because it does not give the user the control of what and when Avast AV scans my HDD. This malicious behaviour was unbearable and killing my hardware.
I didn't want to get rid of Comodo Software, but the Avast AV-uninstallation destroyed the Comodo installation so hard that it was not possible to use Comodo software ever again on this OS.

luckily i found free open-source software to replace both Avast and Comodo software and after all this experience I'll certainly never look back using any software from said companies.
