Avast free.  A Comcast tech came here on Tuesday to hook up a new cable box for my TV and we were talking about anti-virus programs and he said I might want to try Norton so I installed it, then used Revco to uninstall Avast. I uninstalled Norton but now I can't install Avast.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)..!!
-> https://support.avast.com/article/11/

Then:
1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Listening to advice about Security software from a TV tech was a mistake ::)  did he also advise to install Norton while Avast was still installed :-\

Have you run the Norton removal tool prior to trying to install Avast again?

Yes I have.

Edit:  More info.

Until I can install Avast again I'm now using Avira Pro.  Have to have some kind of virus protection and Avira works pretty well.

He came here to check out my router because the network scan still showed I was vunerable and I mentioned my TV wasn't working and that's when he asked me if I had ever tried Norton.  He did tell me to uninstall Avast before I installed Norton which I did.
