Another update, more breakage.  Everytime I read that the tray icon animation is "fixed", thxat means that my tray icon completely disappears.  Yes, it's marked correctly in Settings (I don't have animate checked).  WinXPSP3.  Tried Repair - which apparently finished with "App Repaired"-type message, but hung up on the Add/Remove screen, so I rebooted.  Does this mean repair worked or not?  Icon still missing.  Geez, Louise.
Have you ever done a clean install ??? Don't know if that will help since I don't use XP.

Clean Install of Avast:

On Windows 10 the icon appears and animates.

I was waiting for this solution to appear, these clean install solutions very rarely help, especially with the number of users with the same issue, they can't all have a faulty installation, is it not the fact that this program isn't being developed correctly?

Actually,  they very often help. Unfortunately Windows XP may be the exception. I have no way of testing that.

The fact of the matter is users shouldn't have to reinstall, the program should be working correctly by now, especially those that pay for the service.

You seem to forget that this is a support forum. Most posts here come from people that have a problem.
When you consider there are over 400 Million users that makes those here a very small percentage.
You are correct, that it would be nice if no one has a problem.

Well I have had this XP Pro SP3 system for over 8 years and with avast free for all of that time and never experienced an issue with the avast tray icon not being displayed. Or had the issue of the AvastUI failing to start, lucky I guess or the fact that it doesn't effect everyone.

Intermittent issues aren't going to be easy to find and resolve.

Since the last version (18.1.2326), I see that we've gotten the scan history back, however, scan time is still saying a few seconds, correct?  Further, also regarding scan history, it looks like we are not going to get back the two tabs distinguishing THREATS and WARNINGS, can anyone confirm this as well?  Those two things.  Many thanks in advance.

Hello, there's missing Rescue Disk component, why?

If found it manually at program files (AvastPE2.exe) but can't start because of HTMLayout.dll and/or CommonUI.dll missing problems.

Thank you for your help!
