Yes, that surprised me too but will the key still work twenty years on? That worries me; I'll post about it here when the time comes.  ;D

You need to worry about the product still working in that many years. :) I personally don't expect to be working any more in 20 yrs. :)

I hope you will have a new computer by that time and running the latest version of Avast! ;-)

Hello,

I would suggest that the long term free license key for older Avast (Avast 8 and possibly 7) :
W11332244H9900A0420-8MRTR8W5
should be made easily visible on the Avast site or forum, instead of buried in this thread that will get older
as time goes by (while the information will be *theorically* useful up to 2038).

Maybe an hyperlink on the 'older versions' text on the page 'https://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus' : the page where you are redirected when you click on the 'Register' button from the old AvastUI ...?

This would save some time to the users and avoid unnecessary threads about free licence for older Avast versions.

Thanks anyway for this 20 years free version licence.

Good system, well running, system doesn't mean it's a safe system.
But, it is your system and your choice. :)

Howdy.

My Avast free version 11.2 now states it's expired.  The activation key from https://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus does not work.  The message I get from Avast is "The license key has already expired!"

If I click on "Register Now" in the Avast settings, an Avast window showing "Loading" pops up.  Then it disappears.  Nothing happens.

Any help?

Thanks,
Jim

Repair Avast:

Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

Hi everybody !

Same problem as Neris.

First, I would like to thank Avast team for their work for maintaining the compatibility with win XP for so many years. I Hope there's a solution.

My system : Win xp 32 bits, SP2, Avast version 2015.10.2.2215.

- The key W11332244H9900A0420-8MRTR8W5 entered, Avast says that the licence key is expired.
- Tried to repair. Same problem.
- Tried the clean uninstall method mentioned above, with Avastclear.exe. But it's not compatible with 32bits os.
- Tried to clean uninstall with an older version of Avastclear.exe. But get an error message because of sp3 not installed.
Anyway, I deactivate the auto-defense protection and uninstalled normally the software. No encountered problems at this point. Reboot, install, reboot etc.

The problem is not solved.

Someone has a suggestion to get rid of the problem in my situation ?
Thanks and sorry, I'm not fluent in English.
