Avast shutting down Chrome browsers ?
« on: March 23, 2018, 04:31:08 AM »
Guys,

I have Avast Premier installed on a secondary computer that uses XP as the OS. For some reason, whenever I try to open any 'chrome' based browser (Google, Opera, Vivaldi), I get a real quick error message saying something along the lines of 'Avast has crashed', and the browser shuts down immediately. This does NOT happen on Firefox. That browser works fine.

Is Avast doing something to my 'chrome' browsers ? Did the extension get corrupted perhaps ?

Any ideas/help, would be appreciated.

Thanks !

The only possible Avast add-ons could be Security Browser Extension and
Avast Passwords.
Disable or remove these one at a time, starting with the browser security extension and see if that
makes a difference.

Hi, and thanks for the reply.

I'm assuming you mean to do this in the Avast program, right, because the browsers shut down too fast for me to even access the add-on option.
