New ewido 4.0
« on: June 20, 2006, 06:50:04 PM »
Just interesting to know Your opinion. I liked v 3.5 more as it had more friendly default installation - this one installs and runs all guards by default, but v. 4 has better user interface. But my vote goes to 3.5  ;)

:)  Just yesterday I became aware that there was a "New"
     Ewido Antispyware ( no longer "anti-malware" ) 4.0 , so
I "removed" the "old" 3.5 & installed the "new" . It found
no infections, just like the "old" .

YLAP : since you like the 3.5, perhaps you can find a site
that has it for download !?

I'm not saying I'm going to swith back to 3.5. Just default installation is agressive too much. Users can't choose installation options anymore. It's not hard to turn all that stuff I don't need  ;D

Spiritsongs,

Filehippo.com is one of the few download sites that has older versions available. Here is a link to where you can get the 3.5 version of Ewido:

The question is will it be updated? My said "No updates available" for two days. So I think sooner or later all users will be forced to change 3.5 to 4.0

I assume you mean the definitions files -- good question. I'm afraid I can't answer that one. The Ewido site doesn't say how long the 3.5 version will be supported (at least, I couldn't find anything there).

Users can't choose installation options anymore.
Ylap, just an advice, if you intend to stay with the free version, without the resident guard, turn off the option Shield > Self-protection NOW that you're on the trial period... or, on contrary, each boot and you'll have a startup entry to ewido for nothing...  :P

The question is will it be updated? My said "No updates available" for two days. So I think sooner or later all users will be forced to change 3.5 to 4.0
I've tested the beta 4.0 since from the beggining and it's pretty much better. Even in updates, almost daily, as far I could notice.

The new install is still a trial so it is loading the works so you can try it for the 14 days before Guard and auto updating are disabled. But yes I would have liked a custom install option. I like the new additional functionality, analysis and tools. So for me 4.0 is my choice.

Hey, this topic was for question "Which ewido you liked more" talking about features, installation and so on, and not "I want to reinstall old ewido"  ;D I still have it in my CD's but I always prefer being as up-to-date as possible ;)

Hey, you didn't state in your original post that you STILL had version 3.5. You just asked a question. That's why I listed the URL for the 3.5 version. If I would have known you had the older version on a CD I wouldn't have bothered to post.  :)

Sorry Neal but he never asked for the old version.
A link to 3.5 had already been supplied by rwaters.  :)

The name has changed three times recently but as far as I'm aware the job it does is still the same.

When it was just Ewido Security Suite it had a name of being a trojan hunter. Then it changed to Ewido anti-malware to take the emphasis away from just being known as a trojan hunter. Then they got bought out, so the new company wants to assert its stamp, 'Ewido anti-spyware' that I think is a better descriptive name than the original name..
