Hi,

For those who use Spybot Search and Destroy Spybot detects an ewido component as Central 24 just thought I would tell you about the F/P so you don't accidently delete it.

 :)  Hi all :

I "inactivated" Ewido's 4.0 "Resident Shield" the day after
I downloaded it after I noticed my machine was booting
more slowly than usual; since I let the previous 14-day
trial expire without buying it, I have not missed the
     "resident protection".

I have sent mail about this false positive and WOW! They responded to me in within 1 minute! That's real support!  ;D

Hello Paulius,

This is a false positive. We will fix this one in our next update
scheduled for the end of the week.

Best regards

I've only just Installed Ewido 4 , basically disabled the Resident Shield and Auto-Update features. It starts with a greyed out Icon which is still functional for Updating and turning the ' shield ' on or off. Still playing around with the config.
My main gripe with this new version of Ewido is the magnifying glass graphic . I prefered the 0 & 1's scan graphic  ;D

Abraxas,

lol, I did the same thing you did. Disabled the Resident Shield and Auto-Update feature. Reasons for that I have other programs doing that but I have to say the Interface is a great Improvement and the name changed which is fine I guess. The scannering and update are very well developed  :)

Should I uninstall Ewido 3.5 in order to install 4.0? The update to 4.0 feature at the Ewido site needs a license code.
I noticed that Spiritsong said he removed the old 3.5 before installing 4.0.

Yes, you need to remove ewido 3.5 before installing 4. It creates different files in different folders in program files.
