hello, forum … new member … been using
avast(free) for bit over a year … previously, used
avg(free) for over a decade.
environment … i shut down my pc every night … upon booting, i typically run
avast (and malwarebytes). the av-program does her auto-updates as necessary … latest definition-file was 04-14 … latest program-update was 04-03. normal routine is
"full scan" … using her default parameters.
win-10 updated four days ago
(04-10) … since then,
avast status-interface no longer shows the 'progress-circle' display on the interface while scanning … only thing the interface offers is a button for 'run smart scan' to be mouse-clicked. instead, upon clicking her "protection" tab
(main interface), 'full virus scan' appears as "running". furthermore,
avast's icon in win-10 taskbar also displays the scan to be running.
i resolved the situation by allowing
avast to perform a 'smart scan' … in which it found no infections, but did find one performance issue
(probably bogus). i did
not (nor will i ever) allow
avast to resolve any performance issues. i then rebooted the pc … and the issue has not resurfaced since.
i consider the above to be nothing more than a glitch … however, it should be researched further by the
avast team … which is why i offered so much information at the top of my post … thanks.
