You said you "installed & joined MSN Messenger" !? Are
you sure this was Microsoft's Instant Messenger or a
phony look-alike called "Messenger Plus 3" ? I have
disabled my MSN Instant Messenger because of security
concerns & use the safer Yahoo IM. The "Messenger Plus"
is a spyware program, more commonly known as the
"Lop" spyware.
Should definitely get a software firewall; should avoid
Zone Alarm for now because many are having trouble
with their new ver 6.5 .
Should have an anti-trojan program, such as "Ewido"
from
www.ewido.net/en, to "complement" your antivirus
& antispyware program(s).
Defragging weekly seems excessive; do you run the
"Built-In" Disk Defragmenter and check the "Analyze" box
to see if it is necessary ?
And lastly, I avoid all "Beta" products ; perhaps you
should do likewise !?
