You could try this:

Submitting a support file to Avast
Instructions how to use it can be easily found:
https://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB33#artTitle
Seems like the only way left for me. :(
Let's hope avast is able to help here, otherwise i need to fin a different anti-virus suite... which i actually don't really want :(

Thanks bob! :)
To me, it still looks like you haven't totally cleared all of Avast or some other AV off your system.

I wasn't using any other AV. I've been using Avast for years.

All of a sudden, it stopped working. I did several cleans, followed the instructions, did fresh offline installation etc, and still same issue. It shouldn't be this hard to run software, Avast never used to have this problem!

Windows 10 Pro
Version 1709
Build 16299.371

Same as the version you've screenshotted it seems.

The Windows Defender Firewall?

I've tried installing it with it on and with it off. I turned it off in services, is there another way?

Then it makes no sense that you're having an issue with installing Avast unless something else is amiss.

Submit the support files following the instructions.

Sorry.  I meant Windows Defender Antivirus.  There is an option to turn that off before you install a third-party antivirus program.

Since you've no other a/v, that should be running atm.

Hi, any idea where that option is please? I'll try again.

Actually, Windows Defender automatically turns itself off whenever you install a third party AV.

My thinking is that is one of those rare-use cases where it hasn't turned itself off automatically.

Nothing I've ever experienced in hundreds of Avast installations. :)

OK, just tried it again.

Did a clean removal of all other AV, and Avast again. I turned off Windows Defender in every single page that there was. I did a clean install of Avast IS.

Same problem, no luck.

Even Windows Defender settings recognises that Avast Antivirus is installed, and it allows me to run Avast from there, but again closes down within seconds.

So no solution, for a problem that shouldn't happen, to BitDefender I think?

Sometimes malware gets on a machine and the only symptom is a failure of certain security programs and/or microsoft programs to install or run properly or as expected.  This can be because Windows system files have been changed/damaged or corrupted.

I'd recommend submitting logs to enable a certified malware expert to ensure your system is clean, and if it is not, remove any infection found.

Have the exact same issue today on laptop after Avast updated. Win10Pro.  Also same issue on second PC. Been using Avast for years.
Avast interface automatically closes after few seconds and icon disappears when mouse place on it. Done several clean uninstalls and reinstalls with no fix. This appears to be an Avast issue as was working until Avast updated.
