Avast4 on Centos 4
« on: June 06, 2006, 11:16:23 PM »
Hi,

Great product but I was only using it on Windows and now I have a Centos 4 server with Samba services running that I would like to get this working on.

Currently I have no GUI enabled so everything is command line.

Install was smooth and no issues.

Here are my two issues-

warning: 'local[2525]': cannot change process root directory to '/cpdi'
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: error: 'local[2525]': can't initialize avast! engine: Invalid registration key
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: 'local[2525]': closing process
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: warning: 'local[2524]': cannot change process root directory to '/cpdi'
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: error: 'local[2524]': can't initialize avast! engine: Invalid registration key
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: 'local[2524]': closing process
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: warning: 'local[2527]': cannot change process root directory to '/cpdi'
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: warning: 'local[2526]': cannot change process root directory to '/cpdi'
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: error: 'local[2526]': can't initialize avast! engine: Invalid registration key
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: 'local[2526]': closing process
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: error: 'local[2527]': can't initialize avast! engine: Invalid registration key
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: 'local[2527]': closing process
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: avast! server: closing avast! server at '/var/run/avast4/local.sock'
Jun 06 13:34:14 avastd[2523]: info: Quitting avast! daemon

I seem to have an invalid license as I trying to run a 60-day eval per the website. Also the root directory I have set it does not like.

Any guidance would be great.

Hi,
can you try to disable rootdir option in /etc/avastd.conf?

I tried but it really hates the registration key that I have. Any thoughts on that?

Please look at /etc/avastengine.conf file and check path set in 'Avast4LicenseFile' option if it's pointing to your License.dat file. Also check permissions of the license file, it must be readable.
If you've created /root/.avastengine.conf file, please remove it.

Ok I checked the /var/lib/avast4 and no License.dat file. I did a find -name License.dat on the whole system and also found nothing. So I am guessing that the trial for Linux that I downloaded did not contain a trial license?

Is it possible to have one sent to me or install a new version that contains the trial?

Thanks.
