Avast firewall blocks local network file sharing
« on: April 20, 2018, 07:13:02 AM »
I have a local network of 5 computers that are also connected to the Internet. I have Windows XP on them.

The firewall prevents me from sharing files between them. I have to disable the firewall in order to able to transfer files in the local network, but I don't think a deactivated firewall is a good idea when using the Internet.

What do I have to do in order to keep the firewall and be able to share files?

My bad. Was given the wrong info.

Turns out the software that is installed on one of the PCs and the other 4 PCs were using through the netowork, was not accessable because of the firewall, so I used the instructions to add an exception.

Sorry. Nevermind.

Hi Béci welcome to the forums.

Last reply was 20 April, 2018 so topic is very old and may not pertain at all to your issue(s).

Please start a new topic and say what Avast is doing to your system what system you have and what operating system.  Version of Avast would help also.
