Avast Web Shield / ReadyNAS Frontview issue
« on: April 21, 2018, 01:54:33 PM »
I am running a couple of Macs on my home network. On these I have Avast Security running, and most things are working fine. I also have a NetGear ReadyNAS unit running, and I access the admin pages via a browser.

The problem is that since I started using Safari Technology Review, I cannot open the admin pages on the NAS. I get the message "This Connection Is Not Private", and eventhough I "show details", and "visit this website", I cannot get to the pages.

I then realised that if I disable "Scan secured connections" in the Web Shield settings, it all works fine...

I tried adding the servers to the "Excluded servers" list (http and https), but that does not make a difference.

Am I missing something???

Hello,
could you please do the following so that we can hopefully find the cause of the issue? (you can send results to ondrej dot kolacek at avast dot com instead of posting it here on the forum)
1) what is the output of the following command?
: | openssl s_client -connect your_ready_nas_ip_or_hostname:443
(eg. ": | openssl s_client -connect 16.3.128.16:443")
2) what is the color of lock icon in address bar of Safari browser with and without "scan secured connections"? Ideally please click on that icon, click "show certificate" and post screenshot containing the certificate chain and the address bar with the lock icon for both cases
Kind regards,
