New Browser vs Old browser questions
« on: April 29, 2018, 02:46:16 AM »
I am still using safezone(almost since it first came out) on my desktop.  It has not updated on its own yet, not sure if it will...thought it was supposed to. Dont want to install without knowing what to expect an lose shortcuts and functionality.
I just found a video about the install and it answered the bank mode question i was going to pose
Will my start page shortcuts automatically be carried over/imported or not. I should add that i only want the shortcuts from the safezone browser, none from the other browsers that i also use.
I worry that safezone is old and not up to date security wise and need to decide what to do next in terms of a browser.
I am on Win 10 pro.

It did an excellent job importing all of my favorites etc when I installed it.

Great thanks, now do i wait and it will automatically update at some point, or do i need to manually find the installer/updater and start it?  If the latter, where do i find it(im on a desktop device running W10).

If you export your old Browsers bookmarks to an html file, then you can import it into Secure Browser.

That would've been useful, if the browser warned users before auto-update, thus there would be HTML-files, back-ups, etc. Not with ASB though...

What auto update ???

Avast Safezone was replaced with ASB, but it happened via a background auto-update that killed all the open pages, preferences, etc.

What is more upsetting is that nobody (especially Avast admins / employees) is giving no feedback on how to salvage the situation...

I lost all my shortcuts and folders and I'm pretty pissed about it. They could have a least warned us. You can import your bookmarks from other browsers which is useless. I even lost all my Bookmarks Bar that were more recent. I liked the old browser. Why do they always have to frig up a good thing? I was saving all my relevant bookmarks in shortcuts and folders and now have lost them all. If they are going to change things they could have a least warned us that this would happen. I resent that they uploaded this new crappy browser without even notifying us.

My feelings exactly. Even more so, there were no apologies about the situation after I posted on the forums from Avast, not even any feedback.

That's a way to treat your users, Avast. Great job!  :P
