For various reasons I am admittedly using an old setup with Win XP Sp 3 that I would like to keep going. It appears, if I am correct, that Avast has taken to installing wdf01009 and then Word 2002 freezes. I was able to use System Restore to go back before the installation and Word worked. But then wdf01009 later showed up again. And now even System Restore is having trouble going back to an earlier state. I do not allow automatic windows download update and Microsoft in any event is not supporting XP. Can I delete wdf01009. Should I give up on Avast.
