Should I wait for Secure Browser Upgrade
« on: May 05, 2018, 11:40:26 AM »
With Avast Free latest version on Windows 10 I have SafeZone Browser (on which, by the way, Video Downloader does not work!). Should I not by now have received the upgrade to the new Secure Browser- or is there some procedure I should follow?

I am still unclear - do I uninstall Safezone browser? - or do I install  Secure Browser over SafeZone Browser? Is it part of Avast or standalone? Should SafeZone not be automatically upgraded to Secure Browser? I would appreciate detailed instructions for those who have SafeZone and have not been upgraded so far.

Thanks for reply - the support article on 'migration' did not answer any of my questions -  the Secure Browser file downloaded described itself as 'setup' not as update or upgrade - still did not answer my questions. I ran the file and the first screen answered my questions describing itself as ; "an update to your SafeZone Browser... which will be uninstalled..."
After a lengthy installation it finally installed - but then for quite a while the main Avast  Service would not start. It seems to have settled down now - but Avast certainly doesn't make things easy for us novices"

P.S. to my last posting - I just saw the following on another topic :
"we are rolling out this as an automatic update to anyone who already has SafeZone installed over the coming weeks - there is no need for you to take any action".. You wouldn't know who to believe 8)

I uninstalled Safezone Browser because
1) there was zero info about it, and
2) there were zero instructions for it,
and 3) because it did not work properly (i.e. it got stuck)
with a standard "out of virtual Box" installation on Windows 7.
Win 7 is still the most used windows version, so as a hint to
Avast developers:  If you can't make the same version work
in Win 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, then don't be lazy and make one
for each version.

Now, tell me:
1)  I use Avast Internet Security, (a paid for version) so why was Avast Secure Browser not even offered to A I S users?
2) Will it ever be offered to AIS users that uninstalled the SafeZone browser?
3) Is Avast Secure browser any good, or is it full of bugs?

ASB is running quite smooth here. If you want to download/install it, see Reply #2.

Secure Browser seems quite good so far - despite some teething problems. However - because of past experience with Avast I will wait and see!

Any particular reason for using two separate forum accounts (Tobor and tobor2) ?

All that does is cause confusion.
I have Secure Browser running as my default browser and have no complaints. :)

I went into bank mode and my laptop blocked.
I had to turn it off forcing and lost everything (Windows included).
Result: I had to reset everything as if I had bought it now.
Goodbye ASB.
ASB never again.

It got stopped in bank mode with the dark screen and did not open the bank site I wanted.
It was blocked without being able to go back or forward.
Neither CTRL + ALT + DEL open to be able to close the app.
Only the On / Off button worked.
When I turned it off with On / Off, it lost the Windows startup and I had to reset it to factory settings
I lost everything! Apps, documents, emails, etc.
