FLASHPLAYERINSTALLER.EXE detected
« on: May 09, 2018, 11:44:30 PM »
Hi,

I'm relatively new to the forum (longtime avast user) and I recently got a message that avast blocked something called "IDP.GENERIC - FLASHPLAYERINSTALLER.EXE". I clicked to send the file to the virus vault and did a full system scan with avast and no infections were detected. I later downloaded Malwarebytes and ran the test (as described in "Logs to assist in cleaning malware" post) and no infected files were found.

I was mainly wondering whether or not this is a genuine threat or if it's just a false positive, here is the information that avast gives me in the virus vault regarding the file:

Threat Name: IDP.GENERIC
Infected File: FLASHPLAYERINSTALLER.EXE
Original Location: C:Windows/System32
