Avast 18.4.2338 is the best Avast yet. I have installed the free version on the 8 Windows PCs which I look after for relatives and friends and the installation went without a hitch on each. I was able to install from the offline installer over existing previous versions and then simply restarted and carried on.

Did a fresh install of Avast free, I have four items showing in the core shields which are all showing as green being On, but why is it that when I right click the avast system tray icon and avast shields control the top heading for Enable all shields in brackets it says (1 disabled)

Why would this be as when I click on that option and go back it still says 1 disabled.
An old bug known bug that hasn't been squashed. Avast is aware of it.
If it's an old bug why hasn't it been fixed?

Silly question. Maybe there was a hole in the bug squashing tool ???

This bug is scheduled to be fixed in the next Avast version (v18.5). Is it yet to reach BETA.

Edit: It is currently in BETA, my mistake.

I am hoping that the virus definitions etc can still be updated when using 18.3, if versions 18.4 and beyond remain/become incompatible with XP.

yes

There is a typo in the Hungarian translation:
I believe the English original was "Deep" or "Deep scan".
The Hungarian translation is MÉNY which is wrong, there is no word like that, it should be MÉLY.

Hi there
With this version I do get an error 0x800CCC1A in Outlook 2016. Outlook can't connect to gmail and gives an error. Sending and receiving is blocked. When I disable the mail shield everything works as normal. Is this update a little to strict towards mail ?

Hi there

The problem remains after repairing, have activated back the email shield but disabled SSL scanning. Even after importing of certificate given by Avast in Outlook the problem remains.
There must be more guys out there that have that problem I guess....?
Regards
Bernard
