My laptop no longer works

I downloaded Avast Cleanup Premium last week, since when my laptop is even slower than before. I am also now unable to open any files or programs and I am unable to uninstall Avast.  The program simply says it is scanning Junk programs and this has remained at 20% since I downloaded the software last Thursday. All I now see on my screen is the blue or white circle whirring away until the screen eventually goes blank.  My OneDrive access has also been disabled and I cannot access my documents.

All I want is to be able to use my laptop. 

I hope you are able to help me.  I am extremely unhappy.

Try rebooting the machine into "safe mode" (google it).
Then open the "services" control panel (within "Administrative tools"), double-click the "Avast Cleanup Premium" service, and click the "startup type" pop-up list, changing from "Automatic" to "disabled". Then reboot the machine, and you should find it works OK then. Although the Avast Cleanup application will give an error message if you try to run it (as it needs the service running to work).
