Hi everyone !

Again the the firewall of Avast ask/shows me for "https" connexion request for the "speechmodeldownload.exe".  :-\

See here a screen capture : https://extraimage.net/image/s8h4

I know this "speechmodeldownload.exe" is official part of Cortana and Is not a virus !

Before, on Windows 10 - 1709, i add  in "Avast Firewall" lists named "Other", "Microsoft" and "Microsoft Corporation" too, the file "speechmodeldownload.exe" located in "C:\Windows\System32\Speech_OneCore\common\" whith "Accept" option...

And everything OK, no more ask and message... BUT UNTIL WINDOWS UPDATE  >:( >:( >:(

The update "Springs Fall Creator" (1803) destroyed all my hopes and despite all my efforts, and again "Avast Firewall" ask/shows me for "https" connexion request for the "speechmodeldownload.exe".

The manual addition of "speechmodeldownload.exe" in the "Avast Firewall" does not solve the problem this time.... It's disorienting.
Not using Cortana, I tried to delete "speechmodeldownload.exe", but it's a system file...  ;)

I hope I have been pretty clear in my explanations.

Did you have the same worries, did you solve it ?

Thank you to all of you.

JClaude

[Solved] The return of "speechmodeldownload.exe"... Again and again...
« Reply #4 on: June 01, 2018, 07:28:53 PM »
Good evening.
Thank you at all for your answers…

In fact, I straightforwardly took the bull by the horns >:( and… renammed the infamous folders “Speech_OneCore” of the path “C:\Windows\” and “C:\Windows\System32\” and renammed  the folder “Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy” of the pâth “C:\Windows\SystemApps”, and I ensure you… Nothing any more is displayed...  :-X :-X :-X

I know they are not a cool method 8) but that force-fed me and considering there small quantity of user who one it even problem :-[ , not the ideal solution is founded early :'( .

All that I can note it is that although I disabled “Cortana” (in the Register with “AllowCortana=dword:00000000”, using a program “Destroy Windows Spying” and that is not enough for me :o !!!

The group“Cortana” always existed in the “Tasks Manager” with “Cortana” and “Runtime Broker” inside…
Maintaining it is good… No more message display “speechmodeldownload.exe” and no more "Cortana" at the horizon ::) !

Bye  ;)
