Use the Secure Browser Removal Tool https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe

Thanks for the link, but I fear that that is the same uninstaller that gets pushed onto my C:// drive with the unwanted software. This uninstalls it temporarily, not permanently. It looks like the only solution is to totally uninstall Avast and replace it with something else. This will also lead me not to recommend Avast to other people, which is a great shame as I have been championing it for many years.
Since the Browser is a standalone product, you don't need Avast AV to use it.
Why would you want to uninstall the AV portion which has nothing to do with the stand alone Secure Browser ???

Today Avast Secure Browser installed without my knowledge. But more annoying thing is that it changed my default browser to Avast Secure Browser and it automaticlly autoruns with Windows :o . I've changed it back, but please make it choosable by the user, not to force anyone to use it...

Why it installed on Windows XP despite it's not supported OS? Bug?

The OS isn't compatible/supported.

A bit like Firefox (and Chrome also I believe) and XP, there is the ESR version of Firefox that supports XP, that however ends at the end of August 2018 and there will be no more updates for the ESR version and XP.

Hello , did you tried to desinstall it on XP (or Vista) , and tried to install again ?
It would seem that this is no longer possible, do you confirm?

Hi Chris, you need W7+ for ASB.
W8.1 [x64] - Avast Free AV 23.3.8047.BC [UI.757] - Firefox ESR 102.9 [NS/uBO/PB] - Thunderbird 102.9.1
Avast-Tools: Secure Browser 109.0 - Cleanup 23.1 - SecureLine 5.18 - DriverUpdater 23.1 - CCleaner 6.01

Yes I know  :D
that wasn't the point of my question.
What I wanted to highlight is that as long as ASB is installed on XP or VISTA as in my case or daan16's, it continues to work.
However, if you want to keep it on these OS, you should not uninstall it , otherwise byebye ASB
I was not totally convinced but there are already several people on another forum who have had this misadventure.
It's more a tip, keep in mind , to warn users of these OSes of the irreversible nature of an uninstall

Hmmm, are you sure this isn't a mix-up with old SZB..!?
I'd be surprised to hear that new ASB runs on XP/Vista.

Maybe, I can't say....
To do this, you would have to ask daan16 the exact name of the browser indicated when it says:

Again, my intervention (answer to daan only) was not to take formally ,by the exact name of the browser  ;) ...but to take in the sense that, if you uninstall the browser avast, ASB or SZB, it is no longer possible to re-install it.
Unless perhaps find an older version of the antivirus where the browser (SZB) was one of the integrated components.
I seem to remember that avast had left out the integrated browser for over a year.
Could you tell us which is the latest version of the antivirus that still offered the browser in its components?
With my XP, I can no longer re-install the browser with the latest avast version.

My advice being therefore not to do as I did, i.e. not to uninstall the browser under XP or Vista if we still want to use the few advantages still available of a secure browser

None, SZB has reached EOL/EOS a while ago and ASB won't run on XP/Vista.

and if we have all the old versions "offline" of the Avast antivirus, we should be able to go back before what you call "a while ago", when ASZ was still included in the installation file "offline", then to update the antivirus to the current version without losing ASZ?
FYI, those who have not uninstalled ASZ on XP or VISTA still have it, as said for example daan16 in # 18

No need to try, it won't work.
