OK, I tried that, and my taskbar box still says I'm 'in danger' because my service has expired, but it shows as working on my IE menu bar, so I don't know what's up.

I tried at last to uninstall it, and FINALLY THEN it offers to reactivate for free, so I reactivated it that way, it "updated," and seems to be working (on IE anyway) while the taskbar still has it as a warning of expiration with a big red X on it saying it's not working...go figure.

I've about had it with this...that's the only thing I know for sure.

I have had exactly the same problem for a couple of months getting messages like either no internet connection or content not available or similar messages. I eventually uninstalled but now the new install just disappears after the 3rd step - still no solution. I'm using windows 7 and have had avast on this laptop for about 6 years no problem.

It won't let me renew my free service!  How much clearer can I be?  All screen shots are above.
I'm sick of it, I'm uninstalling it all the way this time.

It's uninstalled, and now I'll look for another program that's not so obnoxious and problematic.  Homey don't play 'dat BS.

Nice lousy job there, Avast!

The question wasn't being address to you, but to Jerome70.

Considering I was the one who posted the above images, you could make it clearer in what actions exactly did you take (which option in image 1) and what happened after clicking your selection ?

Well they weren't being addressed to you (so why would you you quote the post), given that you haven't posted until after 'brucecomms' made that post ???

Ok....... That was a bit harsh.
What I should have said is the failed yearly renewal is where my problem started. Then as I tried different things the other problems occurred. I just thought that if this topic was solved it would lead to resolving mine.
